Artist Statement

I come from a family that appreciates the value, craftsmanship and personal
expression of an object beautifully made. These qualities were instilled in me as I
grew and learned to appreciate, "The irregular and intimate quality of things made
entirely by the human hand". *

My years as an artist have taken me through many different media and each
experience has helped to bring me to where I am now,

For the past several years I have been exploring mixed media. I love to work with
unusual materials. Layering, combining and building a  surface rich with texture
and color. I want my art to catch your eye from a distance and then draw you in to
take a closer look.

I gather inspiration from the world around me. It could be from nature, or the
written word or from a trip to the thrift store or a museum. I never know where my
next idea will flow from so I simply keep my eyes and my mind open.!

It is my hope that the art I make will encourage others to look more closely at the
world around them. To slow down and keep their eyes and minds wide open and
wondering.
